Dear reader,

And so another year comes to a close and we find ourselves taking stock on everything we've done in the past year as well as starting to wonder about what the new year might bring. This is truly a reflective time of the year for most of us and, if you celebrate it, I just want to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2016.

The Chameleon Brain Blog was one of the things that happened in my year, something I could not have predicted back in January ... but a series of events led me in this direction and I just want to say thank you for having shown interest in it by signing up for the newsletters. I hope you have found something useful in it these past couple of months.

With it being the festive season in my part of the world I have chosen not to write a new post but to rather use this newsletter as an opportunity to suggest that, if you fancy some reflective reading over this period, to check out any of the Chameleon Brain Blog Posts that you might not have had time to read since the blog started at the beginning of October 2015. (All 11 of them are listed below.)

And if you read through some, please feel free to leave a comment, you don't need to register with the site in order to comment.

Season's Greetings ... and see you in 2016 :-)

Why I Started Out With GTD

Why I Started Out With GTD

If you've ever felt the need to take control of life and better handle the gazillion inputs that keep coming into your life then an implementation of David Allen's 'Getting Things Done' (GTD) methodology can be a great place to start. (First edition was in 2002 and a revised edition was issued in 2015.) Before I implemented GTD in my …

GTD Get Organized

My Personal Experience of Implementing GTD

Whenever you start something new, you never really know what your getting yourself into right? Sure, you read up about it and it sounds interesting and workable but, will it get added to the junk heap of things you've tried just a few days or even hours from now? But with GTD I had a different feeling right from the …

GTD Shopping List

What You Can Learn From Your Grocery List

Strange title for a post I know! But a couple of years ago I was explaining GTD to someone and they rather neatly summed it up by saying 'so what you're telling me, is that I need to keep a shopping list for my groceries?'. And I kind of had to agree with them! How Do Most People Handle Their Grocery …

OK, someone has to go first ... so here's my '4 Quadrant Brain Profile'. And if you need a reminder about what the 4 Quadrants indicate, check the image below or the Introduction To Thinking Preferences article: And if you're not familiar with the terminology, a check of the above images will indicate the simple approach to identifying any particular quadrant …

It's Not Really About Getting Things Done

It's Not Really About Getting Things Done

The message behind a personal productivity approach such as the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology of David Allen may at first appear to be seen as one pushing you to become ever more efficient as if that, in itself, is the solution to gaining more control in your life. But that would be a disservice to the approach and the …

Sitting Comfortably? That's a Pity!

There's no such thing as a one size fits all approach to how we live our lives. We're all different people with differing likes and dislikes and so, stipulating a single way to do anything is pretty much pointless. What works for me won't necessarily work for you, I get that. But, have you ever thought about what REALLY works for …

The Credit Card Approach to Communication

My working life has traversed the pre-email era through to our modern email and social media dominated approaches to communications. How about you? And if you have lived life both with and without email in your life, have you ever pondered whether it was all worth it? Did we really achieve all that we thought we would with this wow …

Am I My Brain Profile?

A question that often arises when discussing Brain Profiles is the degree to which your profile defines your every moment. Is it, for instance, something that sets forth the pattern of your behaviour in a day in a manner that will be immediately obvious to everyone around you? Or is it something that plays out over time, not necessarily obvious in every …

GTD Cluttered Mind

How Messy Is YOUR Brain?

Do you know the feeling of being constantly distracted by thoughts of things you've got to do? Thoughts of what you need to remember to tell someone tomorrow, or what you need to do when you get to the office, or what you think you forgot to do today before you left the office? It can be a constant 24/7 …

GTD Priorities

Urgent Versus Important - Challenging The Paradigm

In a world where the rate at which we receive new requests for information or action far exceeds our ability to respond to them, we need to have some sort of approach to sifting the wheat from the chaff. If not, we just get quickly over-loaded and stress levels build. And so, it's probably no surprise that, at some point …

Diets & What They Teach Us About GTD

There aren't many of us, male or female, who have not at some point made note of a bulging waist line and decided that it was time to do something about it. And most of us will have made some attempt at changing our diet for a period in the hope of fitting into those jeans we used to so …
